Group C at Le Mans | The Best Racing Series in History

Ah Group C, it even sounds too good to be true. An era in which technological advancements skyrocketed to the stars. 1000bhp bi-turbo monsters, ground effects, rotary engines, a top speed record on the Mulsanne Straight that stands to this day and literally so much more. Group C, had it all, from legendary drivers, to savage cars. But, every story has a beginning and an end. And just like we will say our goodbyes at the end of the 2019 - 2020 WEC season to LMP1, so did we wave goodbye to Group C in the early 90s with the introduction of the GT1 era (except for a few years in between in which we don't really know what was going on besides Porsche winning Le Mans twice with a car barely anyone knows). In Group C's decade long run (1982 - 1993) we had seen the succesful return of Porsche, Mercedes and Jaguar, as well as a succesful debut for Mazda and Peugeot. The Peugeot 905 was the last breath of the great Group C era. It was half a Group C car, half the future of Le Mans. And my God what a car this is. We were able to film two of these at the 2018 Le Mans Classic. The 905 produces a fantastic, high rev sound when accelerating, a sound of which we're sure will captivate everyone watching this video. The Jaguar LM cars, on the other hand, aren't so bad either. With their naturally aspirated engines, they are a memory to cherish seen as though after the McLaren F1, you'll have a hard time finding a non turbo-powered Le Mans winner. Group C then, is a myth, a legacy which fortunately actually took place nearly 30 years ago. To celebrate that, we created this video in a typical 80s look and feel to make sure you can relive this glorious period, the way people experienced it back in Group C's heyday!
